Privacy policy

Oh My House is a household organiser: a chores calendar with rotation, shopping lists, a pantry with expiry dates, recipes and a meal plan, a shared expenses ledger and a household chat. It is available as a web app at ohmyhouse.it-o.fr, and as an Android and iPhone app that can connect to the same service.
This policy explains, in plain words, what the hosted Oh My House service stores about you, where, who can see it, how long it is kept and how to get it back or have it deleted.
In short: we store only what you and your household type in, in Europe, on Google Firebase. No ads, no analytics, no tracking, nothing sold. Only the members of your household can read your household's data, and you can export or delete it yourself from Settings.

Who is responsible
The data controller for the hosted service is Théo Boulogne EI (IT'O), who operates the Firebase
project ohmyhouse-b8750. For any question about your data, write to contact@it-o.fr.
What we store
| Data | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Email address and password | To sign you in, verify your address and let you reset your password | Firebase Authentication — the password is hashed by Google and never visible to us |
| Display name, colour and avatar; the households you belong to; your language | To show who added or ticked something, and to open the right household | Cloud Firestore |
| Household memberships and invite codes | To know who belongs to which household and let people join with a code | Cloud Firestore |
| Household content: tasks and events, chore rotation and completions, lists and their items, recipes and votes, pantry entries (what each item is, where it is kept, its date, when it was frozen or thawed), meal plan | This is the app itself | Firebase Realtime Database |
| Shared expenses, recurring charges and settlements | The shared ledger, if your household switches it on | Firebase Realtime Database |
| Chat messages | The household conversation, if your household switches it on | Firebase Realtime Database |
| Messages you report, and who reported them | To review the report and act on it (see Terms of use) | Handled by Théo Boulogne EI (IT'O) |
| Emails you send us | To answer you | Théo Boulogne EI (IT'O)'s mailbox |
We do not ask for or read your contacts, photos, location or device calendar.
On your device only
Some data never leaves your phone or browser:
- A working copy of your household and any changes not yet sent, so the app opens instantly and keeps working without a signal. It is removed when you sign out.
- Your settings: language, theme, when you last read the chat, the tips you have dismissed, and the members whose messages you have chosen to hide. Other members never see these.
- Firebase Authentication's session token, so you stay signed in.
- Expiry reminders for the pantry. They are local notifications scheduled on your phone by the app itself: nothing about them is sent to a server.
- The food storage guide and the chore guide, which are bundled in the app. Reading them sends nothing over the network.
Cookies
There are no advertising or audience-measurement cookies. What the web app keeps in your browser is strictly necessary for the service you asked for, or a preference you set yourself, so no consent banner is needed.
What we never do
- No advertising, no analytics, no tracking, no profiling.
- No selling, renting or sharing of your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- No third-party SDK other than Firebase.
Why we process it (legal basis)
- Performance of the contract (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)): providing the household organiser you signed up for, under the Terms of use.
- Legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)): keeping the service secure and handling reports of abuse, so that members can use it safely.
- Legal obligation (GDPR art. 6(1)(c)): answering a lawful request from an authority, where the law requires it.
There is no automated decision-making.
Who can see it
- The other members of your household. That is the point of the app: what you add to a household — including your chat messages — is visible to all of its members. Anyone who has the household's current invite code can join it. Any member can generate a new code from Settings, which immediately invalidates the old one, and the household owner can remove a member.
- Nobody outside your household. The security rules of the database allow only members of a household to read its data.
- Théo Boulogne EI (IT'O), as operator, only where it is needed to run the service, answer you or handle a report — never to browse your household.
- Google, which runs Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, the Firebase Realtime Database and Firebase Hosting, acting as a processor on behalf of Théo Boulogne EI (IT'O). See the Firebase privacy and security information and the Google Cloud Data Processing Addendum.
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by Google.
Where it is stored
| Service | Location |
|---|---|
| Cloud Firestore (profiles, memberships, invites) | eur3 — multi-region, Europe |
| Firebase Realtime Database (household content) | europe-west1 — Belgium |
| Firebase Authentication (email, password hash) | Google's global infrastructure |
| Firebase Hosting (serves the web app) | Google's global content-delivery network |
| The website at ohmyhouse.it-o.fr (pages and web app) | o2switch, SAS au capital de 100 000 €, RCS Clermont-Ferrand 510 909 807 — Chemin des Pardiaux, 63000 Clermont-Ferrand, France — +33 4 44 44 60 40 |
Household content and profiles stay in the European Union. Firebase Authentication and Firebase Hosting are global Google services: your sign-in details, and the technical data any web server receives (such as your IP address and browser type), may be processed outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Such transfers are covered by Google's Data Processing Addendum, which includes the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- Your account and profile: until you delete your account.
- Household content: until someone deletes it. There is no automatic expiry and no archive. Deleting a task, a list, a recipe, a pantry entry, an expense, a message or the whole household removes it from the database straight away.
- Leaving a household removes your member profile from it. What you added to it stays in that household (see Delete your account).
- The working copy on your device: removed when you sign out.
- Reports and emails to us: kept as long as needed to deal with them.
Google removes deleted data from its own systems, including its backups, within the time limits set out in its Data Processing Addendum. We keep no backups of our own.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, export, restrict and erase your personal data, and to object to its processing. Most of it you can do yourself in the app:
| Right | How |
|---|---|
| Access and portability (art. 15, 20) | Settings → Export this household downloads the household's data as a JSON file |
| Rectification (art. 16) | Edit your name, colour and avatar in Settings; edit items, amounts and messages in place |
| Erasure (art. 17) | Settings → Delete my account — see Delete your account; the owner can also delete the household |
| Restriction and objection (art. 18, 21) | Write to contact@it-o.fr |
For anything else, write to contact@it-o.fr from the address of your account. We answer within one month, as the GDPR requires. You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority — in France, the CNIL.
Security incidents
If personal data is exposed by a fault or a breach, Théo Boulogne EI (IT'O) will notify the supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of it where the GDPR requires it, and tell the people affected directly when the risk to them is high. If you notice anything wrong, write to contact@it-o.fr.
Children
Oh My House is made for families. You must be at least 15 to create an account, or have the consent of a parent or guardian (see the Terms of use). The app collects nothing beyond what members type in, shows no advertising and profiles nobody.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top and let users know in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
